Coach Alvin Agee - Head Coach/ Defensive Coordinator - coacha@rivergatorsfootball.com
Alvin is a dedicated coach, entrepreneur, and talent advocate whose roots run deep in Birmingham, Alabama. A 2006 graduate of John Carroll High School, Alvin first made his mark on the gridiron as a stalwart defensive lineman. In 2007 he earned a walk-on spot at the University of West Alabama, where he transitioned to linebacker and quickly proved his tenacity and football IQ. Seeking to further both his athletic and academic ambitions, he transferred to Faulkner University in 2009 and continued to excel on the field.

After hanging up his cleats, Alvin channeled his passion for youth development into coaching, mentoring countless young athletes both on and off the field. In 2020 he founded Athletics Engineering, a Birmingham-based talent management and performance training firm. Under his leadership, Athletics Engineering has become a powerhouse in athlete representation, combining rigorous talent assessment with innovative marketing and promotion strategies. Alvin’s mission is clear: to empower underprivileged athletes with the resources, advocacy, and exposure they need to reach their next level of success.

Today, Alvin brings that same drive and vision to the Tri-City Rivergators, where he serves as Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator. He orchestrates the team’s defensive schemes, develops player potential, and instills a culture of discipline and resilience. Alvin resides in Birmingham with his wife, Elyse Agee, and their two young children, Amayah (6) and Collier (2). Whether in the film room, the training facility, or his community, Alvin Agee remains committed to unlocking potential and building champions both in football and in life.

Coach Eddie Hall - Offensive Coordinator - coachh@rivergatorsfootball.com
Eddie Hall is a veteran football coach and educator whose passion for the game has shaped countless young athletes across Alabama. Born in Tuscaloosa and raised there until his family’s move to Birmingham during his teenage years, Eddie honed his skills as a running back at Homewood High School, graduating in 1999. His on-field prowess earned him a scholarship to Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, where he starred in the backfield while pursuing his academic goals. After a rewarding collegiate playing career, Eddie returned to the classroom and, in 2022, completed his Bachelor of Science in Education—solidifying his commitment both to teaching and coaching.

He launched his coaching journey at the high-school level, serving as offensive coordinator at Holt High School, Sipsey Valley High School, and America Christian Academy. Under his guidance, each program saw marked improvements in offensive production and player development. Eddie’s expertise soon extended into the semi-pro and indoor ranks. He led the Alabama Steel and the Tuscaloosa Tomahawks as head coach, then took the helm of the Alabama Empire indoor football franchise, where his strategic acumen and inspirational leadership drove competitive success.

Today, Eddie balances two pivotal roles: as the running backs coach at CenterPoint High School and as Offensive Coordinator for the Tri-City Rivergators indoor football team. In these positions, he combines technical knowledge with motivational mentorship to elevate both high-school standouts and professional athletes. Eddie and his wife, Calandra Hall, make their home in Birmingham with their five children: Derrick (21), a wide receiver for the Tri-City Rivergators; Jasmine (20); Calvin (16); M.J. (11); and Mason (9). Through every locker-room sideline and classroom lecture, Eddie Hall embodies the values of teamwork, perseverance, and lifelong learning.

Gilbert Renfroe - Quarterback Coach - grenfroe@rivergatorsfootball.com
Gilbert is a former professional quarterback and seasoned football consultant whose playing career spanned college ball, the Canadian Football League, the NFL, and the Arena Football League. Born and raised in Tuskegee, Alabama, he first made his mark at Booker T. Washington High School—where he starred under center and graduated in 1981—earning both local acclaim and a scholarship to Tennessee State University.
From 1982 to 1985 at Tennessee State, Renfroe cemented his legacy in the Tigers’ record books, finishing fourth all-time in both total offensive yards and passing yards.

Upon graduation, he took his talents north to Canada, signing with the Ottawa Rough Riders in 1986. A year later, he was traded to the Toronto Argonauts, where he helped guide the team to an 11–6–1 record and a berth in the 75th Grey Cup.

Renfroe’s success in the CFL opened the door to the NFL, and he suited up briefly for the Atlanta Falcons and Minnesota Vikings between 1990 and 1991. In 1992, he joined the Detroit Drive of the Arena Football League. In his debut AFL season he completed 103 of 194 passes for 1,417 yards, tossed 24 touchdowns against eight interceptions, and famously led the Drive to a 56–38 victory over the Orlando Predators in Arena Bowl VI. He later added stints with the BC Lions and the Shreveport Pirates, showcasing his adaptability and leadership across multiple leagues.

Following his playing days, Gilbert Renfroe transitioned into entrepreneurship and football consultancy. He is the founder and owner of Renfroe Tile, a successful tile contracting company based in Atlanta, Georgia. Today, he also lends his offensive expertise to the Tri-City Rivergators, serving as the team’s quarterback coach and helping develop the next generation of indoor-football talent.

Gilbert and his wife Eva live in Tuskegee, AL. They have 3 children Kadeja Babb, Tristan Renfroe and Charelle Taylor.

Erica Savage - Team Wellness Coach - esavage@rivergatorsfootball.com
Erica was born in Albany, Georgia where she spent her childhood. Her dad was a Marine so she became acclimated to moving with her military family. She graduated from Gulfport High School in Gulfport, Mississippi in 1997.

In 1998, Erica enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. Upon completing her service, she joined the Department of Defense and, leveraging her accounting degree, rose to become a Financial Analyst—managing critical accounting data and briefing the Commanding General each month.

After nearly a decade in federal service, Erica transitioned to political outreach working as the Director of Outreach for Public Democracy where she spearheaded partner engagement and oversaw the Iraq War Fund campaign, leading teams to research and support thousands of veterans and their families. Later she became a Political Analyst & Commentator and was a regular contributor to Roland Martin Unfiltered, The Reece Colbert Show, NPR’s Political Rewind voter panel, and host of her own Sirius XM podcast.

In 2021, Erica survived a traumatic brain injury after being struck by an 18-wheel truck—a turning point that reshaped her mission and her career. Determined to fill the gaps she encountered in her own recovery, she founded The Reframed Brain, a nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness of brain injuries and “invisible” trauma, providing resources and peer support for survivors and caregivers and training organizations on best practices for workplace wellness and accommodation.

Erica also serves as the Wellness Coach for the Tri-City Rivergators indoor football team, bringing her holistic approach to the locker room. She has a son, Jordan (26), currently serving in the U.S. military.
